Managing partner at Rastin & Associates, Steve Rastin, believes that the mounting deductible applied on court awards to victims of automobile accidents may soon diminish any chance of compensation for all except the most seriously injured claimants.

The Barrie personal injury lawyer tells AdvocateDaily.com that the injured are victimized twice because of Ontario’s laws regarding insurance claims, where almost all of the money they are paid while waiting for settlement is subsequently deducted, and in many cases, an automatic statutory deductible of almost $40,000 applied.
