A report written for the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) by York University Professor Fred Lazar, concluded that Ontario’s auto insurers have amassed over $5 billion during the past five years in pre-tax income.

Barrie personal injury lawyer Steve Rastin tells AdvocateDaily.com that this report showing that Ontarians are still overpaying for insurance is proof of the province’s broken no-fault insurance system.

The report found that in 2016 alone, insurance companies took in $1.5 billion - 60 per cent higher profits than in 2011.
