Former Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) president and Barrie personal injury lawyer Steve Rastin tells The Lawyer’s Daily it is “incredible” that until recently, the federal government had no system in place allowing for the recall of dangerous vehicles.

On March 1, 2018, the Strengthening Motor Vehicle Safety for Canadians Act received royal assent, providing the federal government with the authority to order auto companies to recall vehicles to correct defects, conduct tests and fix new vehicles before they are sold.
