Barrie personal injury lawyer Steve Rastin worries that the recently announced planned cuts to auto insurance rates may be more about getting votes in the upcoming election rather than implementing fundamental changes to Ontario’s current auto insurance system.

Among the promises of the recently released Fair Auto Insurance Plan are the implementation of standard treatment plans for common personal injuries, as well as instituting independent examination centres for the assessment of seriously injured victims.

Mr. Rastin tells The Lawyers Daily that his excitement for this new plan is overshadowed by his suspicions about the timing of its announcement – a few months prior to the 2018 elections. He fears that the proposed changes may not fix the fundamental flaws of the system, but rather just be designed to look good solely for campaign purposes.
